Homes decorated with paintings are like the mellow sound of a violin in a musical piece. You may not notice if it isn’t there, but the presence of it can liven up the entire piece, and in some cases bring tears to the eyes. The same goes with art. A good piece can definitely make a few people wet their eyes (or pants). Paintings at home must be hung on a wall with little or no decoration on it. A lot of decoration can draw the attention from the painting, making it look like just another decoration piece. A dull wall (preferably a single colour) would really bring out the beauty of the painting. The wall wouldn’t look so dull too. Experts suggest that the empty space around an art piece creates a negative viewing area, which helps focus the mind on the art piece.
Small paintings with intricate details and designs must never be placed over a sofa or table where people can’t view it more closely. Also it must be placed at a level that is not too high or not too low. A height of about 6 feet from the floor would be ideal. Do not hang too big a painting if adequate space isn’t there, it would lose its value and importance. Paintings for home use should never be placed in direct sunlight as it could cause discoloration of paint.
